Lunch at Home with MealPrep Sunday San Diego

Laughing at the ironic timing of this brand partnership. I used to meal prep 3 meals a week for my shifts at the hospital, cooking my own food, and spending a good hour or two at the beginning of the week preparing. Now that I’m almost 2 weeks into maternity leave – not really needing to meal prep – I’m finding myself gravitating to the convenience and simplicity of a meal prep service like MealPrep Sunday San Diego!

MealPrep Sunday San Diego reached out to me recently to try out a week of their meals. Being a new blogger in the lifestyle space, and a passion for fitness and nutrition, I jumped at the opportunity! Who doesn’t love a ready to go meal that doesn’t involve a trip to the grocery store or any cooking at all.

Last Sunday, north county San Diego based MealPrep Sunday delivered a chilled cooler bag, filled with ice packs and five days worth of lunches for me. I’m used to opening my door to see an Amazon box, which is exciting AF too, but as a foodie – opening up the door to find prepped meals was like Christmas!

Here’s what my lunches looked like for the week:

Beef Rigatoni & Veggies

Beef Bolognese (I added a bag of frozen broccoli)

Steak Bowl with Yukon Gold Potatoes & Mixed Veggies

Pork Carnitas with Brown Rice, Fajita Veggies & Salsa

Turkey & Veggie Marinara with Rigatoni (pictured)

Eating low carb for most of my adult life, its become second nature to swear off carbs like rice, pasta, and potatoes. I’ll admit I was slightly nervous adding in these moderately carb’d meals into my week, but I so appreciated the perfect portions! Reviewing the macros on each meal before devouring them, I was pleasantly surprised by the high protein and reasonable carb count, despite each meal including rice, pasta, or potatoes.

Having these so-called ‘forbidden foods’ measured out ahead of time helped me feel in control and confident to eat carbs in moderation.

Here’s How MealPrep Sunday works:

  1. Clients order straight from their phone. You’ll make an account so you can share your stats and fitness goals with the team so they can prepare the best meals to meet your needs.
  2. Chefs prepare & portion your meals. Each container has a sticker on it with the macros spelled out for you. (I loved this feature; it made tracking my meals 100x easier).
  3. Meals delivered right to your doorstep every Sunday!

Starting off the week with a cooler full of lunches, I felt empowered to establish a strong routine! One perfectly portioned, macro-fitting meal a day made me want to continue staying on track in my other meals and snacks.

I’ve always been a goal-oriented girl, but I appreciate the way MealPrep Sunday makes achieving fitness goals even easier. Being toward the end of my pregnancy, and envisioning what postpartum life with a newborn will look like, I’m finding myself a bit anxious about adhering to my own personal goals amidst the stress of new, tasking roles. Handing over my nutrition and fitness goals to them, as they prepare my weekly meals, makes for an effortless track to better overall health. If I can give up the task of prepping lunches for the week, I can have extra time to snuggle my newborn and engage in quality time with my spouse.

After this one week trial with MealPrep Sunday, I’m feeling optimistic and excited for future meal prepped weeks with them! If you’re local to San Diego, I encourage you to give them a try by visiting their site! Make an account to start your first meal order.
