Let me preface this post with a disclaimer – I love to go out, and I love to get dressed up! Trying new places, and going on new adventures truly brings me joy. But you know what also brings me joy? Sweatpants. Messy bun. and the comfort of my own home. Throw in some quality time with Tay, and I’M SOLD.
I’ll share some of my favorite San Diego date spots in a post soon, but I’m honestly just as excited (if not more…) to share a week’s worth of at-home date ideas! Taylor and I both work full-time; and while we love our jobs and our city, sometimes it just feels good to not drive anywhere and kick it homebody style.
1 WEEK OF AT-HOME DATE IDEAS
- Bachelor Monday: Nothing like watching a train wreck of a relationship on reality tv to make you appreciate your honey, right? Taylor and I have been proud supporters of Bachelor Nation before we even met 7 years ago. It’s become one of our favorite nights of the week, and we find ourselves dishing about the ‘most dramatic season ever’ on a regular basis. We love to share a bottle of wine & create a charcuterie board full of our favorite cheeses, deli meats, and olives.
- Taco Tuesday! ...or any day of the week, really. Call me a baesic b, but i believe tacos and margs are just sweet gifts from God. Not to mention an affordable meal! I’ll make a bed of cabbage, cilantro, tomatoes, and black beans, while Tay will load up a few corn tortillas. Our favorite proteins for taco night are carne asada, and grilled chicken! Sample a new tequila together, or dream up a getaway trip to Mexico over dinner!
- Western Wednesday: Some of our best trips together involve country music – Austin, Nashville, Stagecoach Festival. When we think country western, we think BBQ! Taylor has mastered his crock-pot pulled pork (recipe post coming soon!) and whipping together coleslaw is so easy. Put on your favorite country music, throw on your boots, and two step in the kitchen with ya boo.
- Thursday Night Talk Show: Pretend you’re a talk show host and interview your honey! Guarantee you’ll learn something new about them! Taylor and I love to prep some cocktails and curl up on the couch and talk for hours. Check out my post ’25 Questions to Ask Your Honey’ for inspiration!
- Friday Fix-It Day: Is there a home project you’ve been putting off? Maybe a DIY on Pinterest you’ve had your eye on? Building something together, and completing a project as a team is one of the best ways to learn about your significant other. Taylor and I built our headboard, a bench for our guests to sign at our wedding, and a patio farm table!
- Saturday in Sicily: This night is my all-time fave. Alexa, play ‘Italian cooking music’. Roast some spaghetti squash and make your own marinara. Top with Trader Joe’s Chicken Sicilian Sausage. Talk with your hands, and speak in an Italian accent. Sip some vino. wear a gold chain. plan a trip to Italy!
- Sunday under the Stars: Grill dinner outside, have a bonfire, roast ‘mallows, be cheesy and romantic – share your hopes and dreams while you stargaze. Click here to see my Sunday Under the Stars Starter Pack on LIKEtoKNOWit!
