We’re just about halfway through October, and San Diego is still playing this heatwave game with us. Currently low 90s outside, and upwards of 100 yesterday (sweating just typing out those numbers!) but I’m praying that the Fall colors and crisp air across the rest of nation will soon influence us here in Southern California, too. With a toasty mug of pumpkin coffee in hand, I finally got around to decorating our front porch this morning. It’s been on my to-do list for weeks! This design is simple; and honestly, takes just about 10 minutes to put together. Maybe one day, we’ll have a grand porch that could take a whole afternoon to style. Until then, I’ll celebrate this easy glow up in our small space!
Can you notice the blend artificial and fresh pieces? By combining natural and artificial decor items, I can count on artificial pieces as a base for my porch decor, year after year; and add in fresh items like grains, greens, and heirloom pumpkins. This year, I’ve purchased white artificial pumpkins (which I’ll be using next year!) and various colored real pumpkins from Trader Joe’s. We’re not carving these pumpkins, as they are purely for decor, so they should last us through til December when it is time for a winter display. (Yay, Christmas!)
Our lantern is an LED, flameless and battery operated – which means I can turn it on with the flick of a switch and not worry about it while I’m indoors.
Not pictured are cinnamon scented brooms – my fall favorite!

Before I leave you to create your own fall porch display, let me share some of our go-to fall activities! Taylor and I cancelled our Italy trip due to COVID-19, so my 3 weeks of PTO this October has left us with quite the chunk of time for Fall activities! Below the list, I’ve shared links to the activities Tay and I have done so far.
