SWEET 16 < SPICY 26

Crazy to think that TEN years ago was my sweet sixteen. At that point in life, I was a junior in high school, obsessed with my cheer team, and chomping at the bit to get my drivers license. I had a boyfriend I thought I was in love with, I had a part-time job, and I already knew I wanted to be a Nurse. Looking back, there was so much I had yet to learn! This week I celebrated my 26th birthday, and I couldn’t help but think…if then was sweet sixteen, does that make today spicy twenty-six?

Check out my list below of 26 things you may not know about me, and a few things I wish my sixteen year old self would have known!

  1. I’m a Leo! Some traits I identify with: I love being busy, I’m a chatter-box, I’m very impatient. This post sums it up to a tee!
  2. I work in a Pediatric Emergency Room, and I love what I do! Honestly could not imagine myself in any other nursing specialty.
  3. I met my husband when I was 19, engaged at 23, married at 24, and bought our first home at 25! We’re both goal-minded and we’ve loved growing up together.
  4. I’ve been a gym-junkie just about my entire adult life. Working out is my version of therapy, and I LOVE it. I work out 6-7 times a week, and that keeps me sane!
  5. Both Taylor and I were raised Catholic, and we still practice our faith together. We’re excited to mentor two of our close friends getting married next year in the Catholic Church!
  6. If I had to pick one food to live off of for the rest of my life, it would HANDS DOWN be peanut butter. Just plain peanuts & salt, unsweetened.
  7. I love to travel, but on a budget! Last year, Taylor and I stayed a week in Maui, and spent around $1800 total for our flights, condo, and rental car! Currently planning a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico next month. Blog post on All Inclusive Resort travel to come!
  8. I hate shopping for bras and underwear. And I wish toilet paper and paper towels were free.
  9. I am the middle child of 3 girls. We are all so different, and we still fight like we’re in elementary school.
  10. I’m very organized, and love to plan. I take my planner with me everywhere I go, and I’d be a lost puppy without it. Each year, I buy a new copy of the same leather planner from Barnes & Noble.
  11. Pinterest taught me how to hand letter, and it’s now become one of my favorite hobbies. No fancy pens, just a black Crayola marker or big Sharpie!
  12. I am all about Love Languages! If you’ve never read this book, its a worthwhile read, and a lifesaver in relationships! My top is Words of Affirmation.
  13. I love country music, and will never say no to attending a country concert. Right now, I’m really into Morgan Wallen, Adam Doleac, and Luke Combs.
  14. My favorite TV shows are Handmaids Tale, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and anything Bachelor!
  15. I love themed events/meals/dates. One of Taylor and I’s favorite at-home themed dates is watching a Dodgers game, wearing our Dodgers apparel, eating Dodger dogs and peanuts, and drinking Tecate beer (…by no means my favorite, but that’s what you’d drink at Dodger Stadium!). Next month, we’re going to a 70s themed birthday, and I’m all about it!
  16. I only wear yellow gold jewelry, not one piece of silver or white gold! My mom was a yellow gold girl, and I grew up wearing her jewelry. My wedding set is yellow gold, as is Taylor’s!
  17. I have ADHD, and that’s brought some set backs in my personal and professional life, but I’m learning to cope with routine and being goal oriented.
  18. I’m all about bargain shopping! Amazon Prime, Target, and TJ Maxx have been my recent go-to stores.
  19. I love connecting with my friends, and meeting new people, but I’m an introvert! Being alone gives me energy, and being around large groups of people for too long is overwhelming.
  20. When I was a child, I straight up thought that Memorial Day was Oreo Day.
  21. Singing and playing guitar are some of my favorite hobbies, I used to play for church back in high school and college. Need to make more time for that!
  22. I drink oolong tea every. single. day.
  23. Browsing in an empty grocery store brings me joy. One thing I love about shift work as a nurse, I can run my errands on random weekdays when no one else is shopping! Favorite grocery store to do this at…Aldi.
  24. I’m weirdly particular about what spatula is used for each kind of cooking. There’s one for cooking eggs, one for sautéing meat or veggies, and one we use in the crock pot & instant pot. Is this what getting old feels like?
  25. Checking off bucket list items is the best way to live life! Some new things I did in 2019 so far…visited Cancun, Nashville, Napa Valley, and Alaska, stepped foot in Canada, ate at 5288578395 new restaurants, drove a jet ski, flew in sea plane and a helicopter, bought a home and remodeled it ourselves, became a Trauma Nurse…
  26. I’m new to blogging, and am so excited!
