Jour App: A Self-Care Staple

Adding a new point to my Daily Self Care checklist, a fool-proof, mental-health, wellness routine; one that saves me from the endless anxiety and stress of 2020 – journaling!

For years, Taylor and I have journaled in a shared notebook, as a way to connect when I’m in a stretch of late evening shifts at the hospital. When I work three shifts in a row, working noon to midnight, we hardly see each other. Tay is asleep by the time I get home; and he’s at the office when I wake up. Journaling to/from one other has been an easy way for us to express our feelings and check in on a daily basis.

We’ve both grown to love journaling as a couple, but I now see the benefits of journaling far beyond within a marriage. I’ve recently challenged myself to journal ALONE, focusing on my own personal goals. This app easily blends journaling in with my existing self-care routine. Have you read my post, Treat Yo’self (Self Care) Checklist?

Jour, is a smart-phone app based on cognitive behavioral therapy, it coaches me through guided journals, all from my phone. It makes journaling so easy, accessible, and portable. Journal with Jour while cranking out cardio calories at the gym, in line at Costco Gas, while pooping (!), you name it!

As a Registered Nurse, I really appreciate that Jour is backed by science, using expert techniques of therapy to help me feel happier, calmer and more confident. Each time I sign on to the app, I’m guided through a new prompt, with a list of goals. For example, this week’s goals were to ‘appreciate how I’m doing, ‘become more present’, and ‘take more joy into your future’.

I love that Jour is personalized to me and my mental health goals. Over the last week, they’ve prompted me to write about some insecurities and confidence issues I’ve had, and they’re helping me replace those negative thoughts with positive actions! It reminds me to practice skills like gratitude, mindfulness, and visualization.

If you saw my Instagram giveaway, hopefully you entered to win a Premium Subscription to Jour. If not, you can sign up for a 7 day free trial! Highly recommend.
